Dr Darvas has been involved in subtropical fruit tree disease research since 1977. His specific experience on avocados are: - Root rot pathogens (Phytophthora cinnamomi, plus some other 12 organisms) and their control. - Pathogens causing pre-, and post-harvest fruit diseases (Pseudocercospora purpurea, Dothiorella aromatica, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and six other organisms) and their control. On mangoes: - Bacterial black spot (Xanthomonas campestris mangiferaindicae) and control. - Blossom malformation (Fusarium subglutinans) and control. - Blossom blight by Dothiorella dominicana and control.
